April 12

Well. Here it is. Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday without the ability to attend Mass.

How is it even possible?

I pray we never experience it again.

But just as we had to walk through Lent in order to arrive at Easter, we have to get through this global health crisis in order to arrive at healing.

I’m growing tired of writing about the coronavirus. I’m growing exhausted with the inability to escape its all-encompassing nature. I don’t want anyone else to lose a job, a home, or their health. I just want to wake up to a world where every surface we touch and every other human we encounter is no longer considered a threat to my life.

And in this—at least—I know I’m not alone.

Yet, today is the day that God proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that he is trustworthy. Today is the day that God shows us all that he alone is capable of renewing what has been taken from us, but for a time.

Do not lose hope.

Our mourning will give way to a new day.

So, even if it has to be within the confines of your home, celebrate this glorious day when our Lord made clear that neither death nor disease has a permanent sting.

He has risen.

So shall we...if we cling to Him.
