Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Dear People of God,

How can we be vigilant and be full of trust in God?

Without God we can do nothing to attain a blessed life. We need the three theological virtues of Faith, Hope, and Charity. These three virtues are gifts from God; we have to pray or desire for these gifts and then practice them daily. Faith is not to accept anything old nonsense, no evidence.

Faith is trust in God, having confidence in Him. Trusting in God even if it is not all clear to me. A willingness to leave our comfort zone and trusting God where he leads us to go.

Hope is a gift that assures us that our life here on earth has a meaning, a future, and an ultimate goal in God. “Hope is the confident expectation of divine blessing and the beatific vision of God” (CCC 2090), that is, to see God face to face. We all need to practice spending time with God, if we truly desire to be with Him in heaven, since the Ultimate longing of our heart is to see God face to face in heaven, or the Beatific Vision. Adoration of Jesus truly present in the Blessed Sacrament and the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus are two great devotion that will prepare us to meet our Creator.

Blessed Mother Theresa once said: “The fruit of silence is prayer, the fruit of prayer is faith, the fruit of faith is charity, the fruit of charity is service, and the fruit of service is joy or peace.” When we have faith in God, we cannot but be charitable to God’s creation, especially our neighbor. Charity is our love for God expressed by loving our neighbor whom God has created in His own image and likeness. There is no other way to prove our love for God, but by loving one another, including our enemies. To be charitable is like gathering our treasures in heaven. Our acts of charity here on earth are like sending building materials for our home in heaven. To be charitable is to be vigilant.

May Our Lady of Joy help us all to be vigilant by loving God and our neighbors.
