Living a Fruitful Faith

by Fr. Jess Ty  |  07/12/2026  |  Weekly Reflection

Dear Family of God,

The parable of the Sower in our Gospel this weekend, challenges us to listen intently to God’s Word, to be open to it, and to allow our lives to be shaped by its power. The parable reminds us that man’s reception of God’s Word is determined by the condition of his heart.

Jesus explains the Parable of the Seed and the Soil: “The seed sown on rich soil is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields a hundredfold...” (Matthew 13:23). To listen to the Word of God is not enough, we have to understand it too, that is put it into practice in our lives so it will bear fruit. Saint James said in his letter: “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22).

God said through Prophet Isaiah: “My word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.” (Is. 55:11). God has a purpose why He created us and put us in this time and place of the world to help others know Him, love, adore Him and serve Him so we will all be at peace now and forever happy in heaven. Saint Paul encourages us saying: “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are as nothing compared with the glory to be revealed for us” (Rom. 8:18). Seed has to die in order for new life to begin with abundant fruits.

May Our Lady of Joy help us to be doer of the Word like her.

Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
