Divine Mercy Sunday
by Fr. Jess Ty | 04/12/2026 | Weekly ReflectionDear Family of God,
Why do we celebrate The Feast for the Divine Mercy and what are the promises of Jesus when we heed his call?
We celebrate this Feast because Jesus told Saint Faustina 14x during her vision in the 1930’s to make a Feast on the Sunday after Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday, He said, “My daughter, tell the whole world about my inconceivable mercy.
I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day, the very depths of my tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the Fount of My Mercy. The soul that will go to confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment… Let no soul fear to draw near to me. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of my Mercy” (Diary 699).
Jesus also said to Saint Faustina: “Daughter, when you go to confession, to this fountain of My mercy, the Blood and Water which came forth from My Heart always flows down upon your soul and ennobles it. Every time you go to confession immerse yourself entirely in My mercy, with great trust, so that I may pour the bounty of my grace upon your soul. When you approach the confessional, know this, that I myself am waiting there for you. I am only hidden by the priest, but I myself act on your soul. Here the misery of the soul meets the God of Mercy. Tell souls that from this Fount of Mercy, souls draw grace solely with the vessel of trust. If their trust is great, there is no limit to My generosity.” (1602)
May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of Mercy, help us to approach Jesus with complete trust like her and obtain mercy our souls need.
Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
