Answering the Call of Eternal Life

by Fr. Jess Ty  |  07/26/2026  |  Weekly Reflection

Dear Family of God,

What are you willing to sacrifice in order to possess Eternal Life?

To know and experience the love of God is more than any treasure or any pearl of great price. To possess God or rather to be possessed by Him is more than anything we could possess in this world.

When I was in college, I experienced a foretaste of God’s love and it was enough to change my direction in life, to let Him possess my life and start this adventure of doing His will that brought me to the priesthood and even to this great country. Not even in my wildest dream could I envision I would be in the United States of America, let alone preaching in English. But that is how God works when we allow Him to direct our lives; when we allow Him to reign in our hearts and prepare us for a great journey here on earth and through eternity.

Of course it was not all roses in my journey, but as Saint Paul reminding us in our Second Reading this weekend: “We know that all things work for good for those who love God… (Romans 8:28). I entrusted my whole life to the Lord including my loved ones, and He blessed us with faith in Him and experienced His providential love for each one of us. I gradually trusted in God and in His love for me. I have the concrete knowledge of His love for me and that no matter what happens as long as I am trying to be faithful to Him; everything will work for my good and the good of the people whom I serve and love.

May we like our Blessed Mother, single-minded in doing God’s will.

Yours in Christ through Mary Immaculate.
