Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.

This weekend’s Responsorial Psalm (117) says, “Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.”

And I know.

It is difficult to go out to all the world and tell the Good News. You might make some one uncomfortable. It might be your husband, wife, or children. It will probably be you. You might have someone tell you to “get lost!” You might have to quit your job. You might lose some Facebook friends or followers on Twitter or Instagram. (God forbid!)

I have to be honest, I would love to see Fr. Clement absolutely GO OFF on all of us during a homily about this very topic.

While we are all sitting at home, at work, and on the golf course worrying about what people might think if we bring up our Faith, he hails from Nigeria, a place where Catholics are being brutally murdered for their Faith on a weekly basis.

He is a better man than I am, because I’d be tempted to respond, “Oh no. Someone might reject you if you invite them to church. Oh poor, poor you. It must be soooo hard to feel uncomfortable.”

So let’s do that little checklist to see where we can improve. If someone visited your home and looks at your walls, bookshelf, and nightstand, would they know you are Catholic?

If they looked at your planner or Google Calendar, would they know you are Catholic?

If they looked at your social media pages, would they know you are Catholic?

If they listened in on your conversations (in-person, on the phone, or email), would they know you are Catholic?

If they sat next to you on the couch while you watch television, would they know you are Catholic?

Which of these need to be worked on?
