Children's Faith Formation Registration is Now Open!

Religious Education

Many parents today are confused about the requirements and timing for their children to make their sacraments. The process has changed several times over the decades and may be different than what a parent or even a child’s older sibling has experienced. Therefore, it is important that parents of school-age children understand the current process, known as Restored Order.

Preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Holy Communion and Confirmation

  • First Grade: Children enroll in a Faith Formation class at their church.
  • Second Grade: Children prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation
  • Third Grade: Having completed their First Confession, children prepare for the Sacraments of Holy Communion and Confirmation
  • Grades 4 and beyond: Children continue to attend Faith Formation classes and youth groups through high school while learning to live a faith-filled life with purpose and meaning.

Now is the time to begin Sacramental Planning for your Kindergarten student! Classes begin in September for all grade levels.

For a variety of reasons, a child may miss a step in the process. Our Faith Formation team has experience working with individual circumstances and can guide your child back to the path for completion of these important Sacraments.
